Germany, Hamburg, Greenpeace “Rainbow Warrior III”, the new 58 mtr long sailing ship, at a cost of 23 million € is the new purpose-built motor-assisted sailing yacht by Greenpeace & intended for use in their activities such as environmental protests & scientific excursions. It was christened on October 14. 2011 & will replace the Rainbow Warrior II. The vessel will be the first Rainbow Warrior that is not converted from another vessel. It is being built in Germany, with the intention is provide state of the art facilities for the group's use, including advanced communications equipment, also produce one of the greenest ships afloat. Partly this is to be achieved by a substantial reliance on sails as propulsion, with the engine projected to be needed only for 10% or less of the time. Two 50-mtr masts will carry 1,200 sq mtr of sail & the engine is described as a "state-of-the-art hybrid". All materials, from the paintwork to the insulation, have been chosen with a view to sustainability, each component has been supplied with transparent ethical sourcing. The first Rainbow Warrier was destroyed in 1985 in Auckland, New Zealand by French intelligence operatives, DGSE.
The name “Rainbow Warrior” is based on a legend of a “Hopi” prophecy, a tribe of indigenous Native Americans.
From Hamburg the vessel will leave on Monday, Oct. 24. to Amsterdam, London & Copenhagen, before starting his way to the USA.

I wish the Rainbow Warrior III successful missions & safety for the crew.

TVNZ

Oh and I also saw TVNZ, which will totally wimp in comparison to how big and imposing ABS-CBN buildings are. But they probably have better equipment anyway, so it's a draw. Interesting to note is that TVNZ is a state-owned enterprise, which is a fancy way of saying that the government owns it. Which is why there is very minimal commercials, dud tv shows, tons of infomercials on medicines and traffic safety, and -gasp!- no noontime variety shows!
